The i-16 is an Intrastate Highway travels generally in a northwest-southeast
direction entirely within the state of Georgia.The i-16 is the main route
between the i-75 and
i-95 between the metro
Macon and metro
Savannah
regions.
In the case of a major hurricane, the i-16 serves main Hurricane evacuation
route for Savannah and the other smaller cities along the coastal region.
The city of Macon GA located at it's northwest end where the i-16 meets the
i-75 ... and the city of
Savannah GA is located
at it's southeast end where the i-16 runs into downtown Savannah.
The major interstate highways that intersect the i-16 include the;
i-75, i-95.
The i-16 covers a relatively short distance of only 166.8 miles ... which can
be travelled in just aprox. 2.78 hrs. with a sustained travelling speed of 60
miles-per-hour.
